You want to create a business but what is your Niche?
So you wake up one morning and decided to start a business making candles but you don’t know anything about candles, never really purchased a candle, or lite a candle. However, you seen a google ad about starting a business making and selling candles and it caught your attention based around all the income you can make. Chances are this is the wrong business for your to start.
Some people start a business and realize that they started the wrong business. The 3 steps below will guide you into starting a business that follows your niche.
1. What are your passions and interests?
I want you to sit down and answer these questions. What are my special interests? What are my hobbies? What are my skills that I am good at and passionate about? Don’t just think about them really write them down on a piece of paper. These are areas that you are knowledgeable about, enjoy, and love to do.
2. What problem are you solving to your market?
Next think about your market and who you are going to sell to. If you like in the desert with no grass you wouldn’t start a business cutting grass now would you. Find your market that people are generally interested in and what are you going to help them solve. Now if you live in an area where people work 9am to 5pm chance are you can save them time, this way they can spend it with their family instead of taking a couple hours to mow their own grass.
Think outside the box on this and make sure you are writing this down. How many times in the past have you thought of something only to forget it a few days later. Plug this next to your niche ideas so you can really find out exactly what problems you are going to solve for people in that market. Could be saving time, saving money, gaining comfort, feeling more loved, gaining social media status, better health, easing pain, etc.
3. Let Do A Little Research
Once you narrow down a niche lets do some research on the topic. Don’t be afraid to talk to friends and family about your business venture or you can join online groups. I want you to read blogs on your niche, I want you to join in online groups and read through post and replies. Get on Youtube and search your niche various ways. Go to the bookstore or online and grab a book, read the entire book not just the first few pages. This is really important because the more time you spend researching the more you learn about this niche. If you only research it for a little bit and loose interest, then chances are this is not your Niche.
Next research your competition and see what they are doing. Here you will find out if there is a lot of competition in you market area or no competition at all. Chance are if you are starting an online business then you will find a lot of competition. This will allow you to pin point your niche and if this is the business you are going to start or possibly move into a new direction. Might be the same field but just a different direction.
It’s starting to come together and you’ve researched through google, google trends, amazon maybe and so on. Now its time to write down your Niche and start creating your business. This is not going to take a few hours this will take some time to really pin point your desired niche.
